Ross Limestone is a natural beige-grey limestone sourced from the Lough Sheelin area, with historical references linking local stone extraction to early construction in the region, including Ross Castle (circa 1536). The stone has long been valued for its strength and durability in traditional building. Today, Ross Limestone Quarry continues this heritage, supplying high-quality material for modern construction and architectural projects across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
Ross Limestone Quarry entered a new phase in April 2025 following its acquisition and redevelopment by S McConnell & Sons Group Ltd. Since then, the focus has been on building a modern quarry operation that can reliably supply high-quality limestone products across Ireland, the UK, and export markets in Europe. The goal is to develop a straightforward, production-led business that keeps close control of quality while expanding the reach of natural Irish limestone into new construction and architectural projects.
